The volume of this skirt adds to an athletic or straight boyd; while also covering parts of a pear shape you wish to remain not exposed. For the tall and slim, it's a feminine swtich up from the traditional pencil skirt.

They look great and are very flattering to an array of body types. Modern meets vintage classic. My wardrobe is seeing spots' n' dots in all styles and colors this season-- how about yours?

The Polo Shirt-3 Ways

Polo Shirt-3 Ways

The polo shirt is a classic piece that can be worn in many ways. Not only is it versatile enough to wear to day or evening events, its style elements can be altered easily, putting a modern spin on the traditional cut which consists of short sleeves and a collared neck line. Worn in solid, striped, bright or muted tones; the dressier alternative to a simple cotton t, is traditionally paired with jeans or khakis. Today, design twists like puffed sleeves, long sleeves, key hole necklines, sleeveless dresses, and deep V-necks are some of the ways the iconic shirts have been altered to fit a variety of lifestyles and style preferences. The first look features the classic striped and logoed polo ready for summer wear. When tucked in and paired with a simple pair of jean shorts and flip flops, you have an errand ready look or casual lounging attire which looks clean cut and pulled together. The second look features long sleeves and a polo cut neckline, perfect for cooler summer afternoons or evening events. Less form fitting, polo shirts can be light, airy, and whimsically designed in a fun and flashy print. Piece it together with a pair of plain khaki capris and strappy sandals for a hot summer look in cooler temperatures. The last look is perfect for spending time at the country club, meeting friends for a shopping excursion, or even wearing to work during summer months. A white bib collar adorns the polo which features a simple yet sexy keyhole neckline. When tucked into a neutral toned A-line skirt and paired with platform wedges, the polo creates a professional yet sultry look which is also perfect for the transition from work to cocktail hour. Nautical design elements like small anchor earrings, a striped bag, and sea inspired colors helps you remain in the beachy summer spirit, even when stuck in the office on beautiful summer days. The polo shirt has come a long way in terms of its classic design and is still a basic and necessary piece to have in your closet to create a preppy but pretty look for day, evening, or work!

The Basic Fitted T-Shirt

Fitted T

The fitted t-shirt is one of the most underestimated basic pieces that belong in every fashionista’s wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down in a snap, and is the perfect piece to pair with your favorite accessories. Its cotton material is stretchy and neutral and is necessary to be purchased in the must have basic colors-white, grey, and black. Owning a t shirt in each of these pairable colors means that you will never have a “What am I going to wear?” moment ever again. The first look features a comfortable and cool weekend look, pulled together by a basic V-neck grey t. Tuck it in and wear it with a short belted pair of basic jean shorts and add an interesting flat leather sandal to give the look style and casual sophistication. The second look is great to wear out to brunch or as a cover up over a bathing suit. The white fitted scoop neck t-shirt worn tucked in creates a classic and streamlined shape when worn with a slimming black and white striped floor length skirt. A high end bag and statement piece of jewelry dresses the look up, and a straw hat keeps you looking and feeling cool on hot and sluggish summer days. The last look features a black scoop neck fitted t-shirt that is club or girls night ready. Again, tucking it into a bottom piece makes it look formal, structured, and it conforms to the curves of your body while the dark color creates a slimming and contouring effect. A glittery two toned neutral skirt paired with sexy red pumps instantly dresses the t-shirt up, making it appropriate to wear for a night out on the town, without sacrificing comfort. T-shirts may be made of a basic and traditional fabric, but they are anything but simple.

The New “IT” Cardigan

Waterfall Cardigan

Waterfall Cardigan by Style Clarity featuring flip flop shoes

Summer is all about adding volume and playing with shapes in your wardrobe. While the waterfall cardigan has been around for some time, it is popping up in more and more stores around the globe. Here are some tips for wearing the new IT cardigan and reasons IT is such a phenomenally versatile (not to mention comfortable) piece.

WEAR IT with just about anything! It looks great over summer dresses for a casual look or over a simple tee and skinny denim for a day of running errands. It’s also an easy addition to your work wardrobe, whether you’re required to abide by traditional business attire guidelines or can go more casual. A black waterfall cardigan can double as a light blazer when styled correctly. Wear it with your go-to black pencil skirt and a blouse. Throw on a belt and some bling and heels and you’re ready for the office.

PAIR IT with a belt to define your waistline. If you’re petite and have a hard time finding a waterfall cardigan that doesn’t envelope your small frame, blouse out the material on top over the belt. Be sure the belt is cinched at the smallest part of your waist.

What’s your favorite way to wear your waterfall cardi?

The Basic Black Pump

Basic Black Pump-3 Ways

A pair of basic black pumps is just as important as a little black dress when it comes to the basics of any wardrobe. Ever the versatile, all season piece; black pumps can pump you up for an elegant evening out, or pull your look together making you look posh and perfected as you adorn yourself in cute and comfortable or business casual clothes.

The key to a great pair of pumps is to invest in a quality piece designed in a style that will be ever green. For example, a heel slightly longer than a kitten heel but slightly lower than a platform heel is your best bet. This allows them to be easy to wear (and walk in) with any look you are striving for-casual or dressy.

A rounded toe also seems to be a safer bet when it comes to shoe trends. Pointy toed pumps look super chic while they elongate the leg, but a rounded toe is a more of a classic and timeless design that will also complement your look and your legs.

The first look is ideal for a night out with the girls or for a romantic evening dinner with your date. The pumps play the role of adding a bit of elegance and sophistication to this colorful and playful look. It also plays off of the fabulous lace textured summer shorts. How chic!

The second look features the pumps as an all-purpose piece, blending in with the outfit that is perfect for afternoon events such as shopping, errand running, or lunch and can easily transition into an evening event such as a barbecue, fair, or dinner party.

The last look features the black pump in a more dressy and glammed up light. It pulls the little black dress look together, which is elegantly appropriate for a wedding, class reunion, a charity event, or night out at the theater. This is how you can put together three fabulous and very different looks by using only one pair of shoes-the basic black pump!

Creative Ways to Avoid Harmful Rays

It’s hard enough during those hot summer days to keep your skin from feeling greasy. Adding layer-upon-layer of goopy sunblock adds insult to injury.

If you’re planning on spending your summer under the sun but don’t want to compromise your skin’s health, consider some creative ways to cover up.

*Hark back to the 1960s by throwing on a silky scarf over your hair and big sunglasses. But beware: You may have beachgoers mistaking you for a celebrity.

*Luckily for porcelain skinned, fair fashion divas, big sunhats are back in style. These provide adequate sun protection for your face and neck, as well as your shoulders.

*Parasols and cute umbrellas are another effective means of sun protection. Plus they are really fun to twirl!

The truth is, a high SPF sunblock and adequate in-the-shade break time are the best ways to preserve your skin. There are dozens of sunblocks and sunscreens that are not super greasy that you can try in order to avoid that caked-on feeling. Spray-ons and products meant specifically for sensitive skin work best to keep your skin dry and protected.

What are your stylish tricks to protecting your skin from the sun?

Sheath Dress-The Basics

Sheath Dress-3 Ways

Sheath dresses are chic and sleek. What’s better than that? How about the fact that you are able to wear it and pair with many different articles of clothing and accessories. The key to making one sheath dress a versatile piece is selecting a sheath that is a wearable shape, shade, and fabric. The looks above are designed around a basic A-line cut sheath dress. A-line cut flatters a variety of body types and the length of the dress is appropriate for day or evening use.

It can easily be cinched with a belt or worn lovely and loose. The lace texture and detailing is able to be dressed up, as seen in the last look which is ideal for a wedding. Paired with sparkly accessories like brilliant gold heels, dazzling jewels, and then given a pop of silky color from a clutch, it is instantly evening ready and appropriate. It can also be dressed down or worn business casual, as seen in the first look.

The first look is perfect for a weekend afternoon of leisure-shopping, luncheons, running errands, and enjoying a day trip away. It can be worn business casual-perfect for work and then even transitional into play-cocktail hour out with co-workers or an impromptu dinner with your significant other. You may even dare to turn it into a perfectly acceptable and stylish bathing suit cover up. Slip it on to look sleek as you stroll around the pool and then cover up and head off to a lunch on the boardwalk or at the club after a swim in the ocean.

There are a variety of sheath dresses that will fit in with your lifestyle and flatter your figure, but you can get the most bang for your buck by choosing one sheath that can be worn in a variety of ways!

Wedge Love

As Summer 2012 rolls in, I find myself not wanting to layer up with different pieces of clothing but choosing a lighter top and shorts. My inner fashionista does kick in though wondering how to accessorize without wearing too much during these high temps! This is when-- I turn to my shoes. Wedges are a great way to accessorize and allow your shoes to set the tone for the rest of your outfit.

Wedge Love

Every outfit should have something that makes it "POP"-- let your shoes do that this summer. Wedges are fantastic, usually (and shockingly) comfy, and come in so many styles, heights, and colors. Another perk of walking in wedges? These babies make your leg look longer, slender, and more toned! So love on wedges, they're the summer's hotties accessory!

Oversized Bag

The Oversized Bag

A bag can be more than an accessory; it can be your best friend. When bags are big enough to hold all of your favorite things but not too big that they become a burden; then you have the perfect oversized bag. T

he first look features a fun and bright beach bag that can be toted to the beach with you and then brought out for an afternoon lunch at the boardwalk or beach club. It’s large enough to hold your beach bathing musts-sunscreen, sun glasses, even your Kindle-and a light and breezy cover up or change of shoes to assist your with your transition from the beach to your next summer destination. Made of a resilient canvas fabric and embellished with nautical rope straps, it’s a great pick when hitting the beach as it can endure the salt, sand, and water!

The second look features a leather oversized bag with dual handles that will make you look sleek and chic no matter where you are going. The line of gold studded embellishments adds some edge and together with the leather, you will look put together and polished. The overall look featured is an ideal outfit for casual activity like walking through the city, browsing boutiques, hitting up a farmer’s market, or relaxing with friends and family. The bag will hold everything you need to shop and browse-from your wallet, IPod or IPad (or why not both?), make up bag, perfume, and favorite book or magazine.

The last look features an oversized bag that is in the form of a satchel and will look sophisticated and savvy paired with any work outfit. White is a timeless color for a spring and summer bag, and the oversized features that the bag boasts will help you tote your go-to items that will get you through work, meetings, or a happy hour with coworkers after work is done for the day. Shiny hardware adds interest and value to the bag, while a savory material like leather or ostrich makes a classy statement; just like your apparel, for the job.

Oversized bags are not only a basic piece needed in your wardrobe but are buddies that keep you organized, refreshed, and prepared for any event.

Three ways to wear your Maxi Dress

Spring is on its way out, which means summer is right around the corner. Gorgeous flowing maxi dresses are making their debut in stores once again, and if you’ve never tried one out, maybe this is your year! Not only are these floor-skimming frocks stylish, they are extremely comfortable, versatile, and easy to throw on when you’re in a hurry to get out the door.

Here are three ideas to get you started.

 1. The lone maxi- On those hot summer days, chances are you won’t be in the mood to throw on layers of garments. But if you still want to look super styled and put together, throw on a fitted belt around the smallest part of your waist. This is also a really good trick if you are “vertically challenged” but still want to take advantage of the style. Add the belt then blouse out the top half of the dress until the hem comes off the floor.

2. Maxi dress turned maxi skirt- If it’s a little too chilly to wear your go-to maxi on its own, try adding a light (or chunky knit) pullover sweater. Go for something sheer and/or flowy to avoid losing your shape. Neutral sweaters with an asymmetrical hemline make for a playful look when paired with the dress. If you feel that your waist has disappeared, grab a belt and add it to the ensemble.

3. The work look- A light, lengthy dress is freeing and might make you feel like a wild-child or a bohemian goddess, but the maxi can definitely be eased into your work appropriate wardrobe. Throw on a blazer that can be buttoned at least once around your waist, add some closed-toed flats and bangles, and you are maxi-ready for the office.

What’s your favorite way to wear your maxi?

The Cardigan 3 Ways

The Cardigan-3 Ways

Cardigans may be the best fashion item you can ever own. When else can you tote it along to work, to a wedding, an afternoon full of shopping, and on a beach vacation? It’s versatile and always in style. Invest in many colors, cuts, and styles of cardigans so you can wear one year round.

The first look features a gorgeous, drool worthy cardi that is great to bring as an evening cover up after a barbeque or glamorous get together with friends. It’s made out of light linen so it’s great for spring, summer, and early fall use (what an investment!). The sparkly gold embellishment gives it an interesting and fashionable touch. Since the glitz glams it up a bit, pair it with a casual pair of denim shorts and a basic striped t in neutral colors like black and white.

The second look is pretty for a wedding or formal outdoor event. Use the cardigan as an accessory, meaning it will pull the outfit together to easily go from afternoon to evening, or to warm up in style in the cool spring or summer evening air. Each tone in the look is neutral and reminiscent of spring and summer flowers. The three quarter length sleeves are ideal for warmer weather that also sees cool evenings.

The last look features the cardigan as the casual star. Great to wear on a rainy day running errands, lounging around the house, or shopping with your friends; this casual cotton cardigan boasts draping, large pockets, and a front-tie detail. Great to pair with capri jeans and a textured white top, you’ll look pulled together and sophisticated even on the most relaxed and carefree days.

You can never have too many cardigans. Stock up on sophisticated and flattering cover ups that enhance your figure and your style!

The perfect shoe

Finding the right shoe can be the most challenging part of putting a look together. Whether you have too many options or cycle through the same two pairs on repeat, topping off (or rather, bottoming off) your outfit can be daunting.

There are four shoe styles every stylista should have in her closet.

  1. The basic pump. A nude or black usually serves as the most useful. Wear your pumps with cropped dress-pants to elongate your legs.
  2.  The go-to flat. Let’s be real- heels aren’t the most comfortable thing in the world and if you’re on your feet more than an hour a day, you may want an alternate option. Flats tend to work best with shorts, a dress or skirt with an above-the-knee hemline, and skinny or straight leg jeans.
  3. The fun wedge. Wedges are hot for spring and summer. If you decide to go all out and get a wild color, keep it solid or as part of a multi-colored print. Doing so will make the shoe more wearable. (And don’t try to be ‘matchy-matchy’. Let your shoe do the talking!)
  4.  The sassy boot. Your boots may sit in the lonely corner of your closet during the summer, but the chilly fall and brutal winter months are their time to shine.

What is your most versatile shoe?

Go Turquoise or Go Home!

One of my favorite colors for summer is turquoise. It looks great on all skin tones and looks great with denim, khaki, and white pants! Style it up with your favorite shoes-- dress it up, dress it down.

Turquoise Love

I love finding one particular article of clothing and finding multiple ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe. See how this one button up shirt can be worn with three (or more) colored pants, and even a skirt? One shirt, several possibilities and ensembles. Let your shoes decide the look you're going for with heels, wedges, flats, and pumps.

Loving turquoise, you should too!

1. Turquoise Colored Skirt
2. Rose Earring Studs
3. Feather Earrings
4. Brown Wedges
5. Creme Wrap Around Wedges
6. Steve Madden Embellished Ballet Flats

The Strappy Sandal

The Strappy Sandal

Strappy sandals have been around for decades and they certainly are not going anywhere anytime soon. Also known as the season’s hottest shoes, they are spotted in many colors, styles, and strap thicknesses. The strappy sandal is versatile enough to be dressed up or worn casual from a stroll on the boardwalk to attendance of an outdoor wedding.

The first look features a jelly, flat plastic strap that lies vertically on the foot. Its strap wraps around the ankle and has a subtle, look at me sheen. Great to wear on the beach or poolside, the tone of the sandal will complement bronze bodies and add an element of interest to a bathing suit and cover up combo.

The next look features a gorgeous outfit to wear shopping, running errands, or meeting with friends for an afternoon lunch, leaving the strappy sandal to be the star of the show. Similar to the jelly style strappy sandal, the white leather and taupe-brown T-bar strap and gold tone embellishments dress up the outfit making it ideal to go from day to nighttime events. The flat style of the sandal make it perfect for pairing with a maxi dress. The colors are blocked, summery, and overall visually appealing.

The last look has a nautical feel. It’s perfect for sightseeing on vacation, an afternoon boat ride, or the perfect look at your next barbeque get together with friends. The wedge sandal has a braided rope bottom and displays a pop of bright and playful, but neutral color. The strappy wedges feature a front and ankle strap, creating an elongated leg look which is ideal when wearing a knee-length skirt, shorts, or capris.

Strappy wedges can be paired with virtually anything when you select a style, color, and thickness that enhance whichever look you choose to showcase.

Fashion is in the Bag

Fashion Is in the Bag

Purses, pouches, or bags have been used since humans have needed to carry precious items & have historically been both the carriers of secrets & the signifiers of power, status, & beauty. As keepers of daily life equipment, handbags have been strongly influenced by technological & societal changes.
In the 14th & 15th centuries, both men and women would attach pouches to their girdles. Because pockets would not be invented for several hundred more years, wearers would also attach other valuables to their girdle, such as a rosary, pomanders (scented oranges), & even daggers.
Stinky aristocrats in the sixteenth century would carry what was called “swete bagges” - bags that were filled with powder from sweet-smelling herbs & spices, such as lavender, or with perfumed balls of cotton.
Both men & women in the seventeenth century preferred to hang long embroidered drawstring purses under their skirts and & often used as conspicuous decorative containers for gifts, such as money, perfume, or jewels. Women spent an enormous amount of time embroidering them to show off for potential husbands.
Handbags are currently made in an array of styles & materials, such as waterproof canvas, space age synthetics, & faux reptile skins. And handbags, which for so long had been associated with the feminine are now becoming more popular with men. Its variety & adaptability highlight the handbag’s extraordinary potency & staying power.
